| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Septimius Severus facing right, portrayed from the rear in the characteristic three-quarter back view typical of Phrygian provincial issues. The imperial effigy is rendered in the robust style of Severan provincial portraiture, with the laureate wreath clearly articulated. The encircling Greek legend identifies the emperor with his full titulature, running around the periphery of the flan. |

The figure is depicted in a relaxed, scholarly or oracular pose, consistent with representations of Apollo or a similar divine figure on Phrygian civic coinage. The Greek magistrate legend encircles the design, naming the local strategos responsible for the coin's issue. The field shows some weakness in strike typical of the irregular flan. |
