Attuda was a minor Phrygian city whose civic coinage under Severus was administered by a local magistrate — the grammateus, or secretary — whose name appears prominently in the legend. Glykon, son of Philopator, held that office and sponsored this issue at his own expense, a practice of civic euergetism that simultaneously advertised personal prestige and municipal loyalty to Rome.
