| Beschrijving keerzijde | Apollo standing facing with head turned to left, nude or lightly draped, holding a raven in his outstretched right hand and an olive branch in his left. At his feet, a lyre rests upon a cippus (low rectangular altar or base), alluding to the god's roles as deity of music and prophecy. The composition is typical of Carian provincial reverses honoring Apollo, the principal deity of the region, rendered in a restrained Hellenistic style. The ethnic legend ΑΛΑΒΑΝΔΕΩΝ encircles the design within a beaded border. |
