Beschrijving voorzijde Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Philip I (the Arab) facing right, rendered from a three-quarter rear perspective, with the paludamentum fastened at the shoulder and the muscled cuirass clearly articulated. The emperor's portrait displays his characteristic broad facial features and short beard. The Greek imperial titulature legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan, bordered by a fine beaded rim.

Beschrijving keerzijde Alexander the Great depicted reclining to the right upon a large round shield, set beneath a leafy tree, his posture evoking the heroised founder of the city's mythological tradition. Behind him, two Nemeses stand facing one another in a symmetrical composition, each holding their respective attributes, symbolising the dual cult of the Nemeses venerated at Smyrna. The scene is enclosed by a circular Greek legend referencing the city's triple neocorate status and the presiding strategos, with a beaded border at the edge of the flan.
