Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Philip I (the Arab) facing right, rendered in three-quarter view seen from the rear, a presentation typical of mid-third-century provincial coinage. The emperor's paludamentum is visible over the cuirass, with the folds of drapery articulated in relief. A Greek imperial legend encircles the bust along the periphery of the flan. The portrait exhibits the characteristic broad facial features and strong jaw associated with Philip I, executed in the provincial Greek style of the Conventus of Miletus.
