Obverse description Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Philip I (Philip the Arab) facing right, presented three-quarter from the rear, with paludamentum fastened at the shoulder visible beneath the cuirass. The imperial effigy is rendered in the typical mid-third-century provincial style, with boldly modelled features. The Greek legend curves around the periphery of the flan, reading from left to right.
