| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Philip I (the Arab) facing right, rendered in three-quarter view from the rear, a presentation typical of mid-third century provincial coinage of Asia Minor. The imperial effigy displays paludamentum fastened at the shoulder and segmented cuirass, conveying both civic and military authority. The encircling Greek legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan. The portrait exhibits the bold, somewhat schematic modelling characteristic of eastern provincial die-cutters of the Severan and post-Severan tradition. |
