Obverse description Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of the emperor Philip I (the Arab) facing right, rendered in three-quarter view from the rear, a presentation typical of mid-third century provincial coinage. The portrait displays the characteristic military dress of the period, with visible paludamentum folds over the left shoulder. The encircling Greek legend names the emperor with his full imperial titulature, reading clockwise around the bust within the field.
