Tabae was a Phrygian city whose civic coinage flourished under the Antonines, issuing bronzes across multiple denominations during Marcus Aurelius's reign. The conventus of Alabanda — one of the administrative districts through which Rome organized judicial and fiscal life in Asia Minor — grouped Tabae with neighboring communities for assize purposes, though the city maintained its own mint and civic identity. This piece, at the heavy end of the local bronze series, likely circulated within the regional economy rather than moving far beyond the Maeander valley.
