To the left, Athena stands facing right, her weight resting on a shield, holding a spear; at centre, Demeter stands facing left, pouring from a patera over a lighted altar and holding a long torch; to the right, Dionysus stands facing left, extending a cantharus over a panther at his feet and holding a thyrsus. The reverse has been noted as tooled. The grouping reflects the syncretic religious identity of the Lesbian koinon. |
