| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Macrinus facing right, depicted three-quarter from the front, with paludamentum visible at the shoulder. The effigy displays the characteristic bearded portrait of Macrinus in the provincial style of Asia Minor. The circular Greek legend runs along the outer border, separated from the bust by a dotted inner border. The die work reflects the provincial engraving tradition of the Samian mint, with bold if somewhat rustic modelling of the imperial portrait. |
