Year 21 of Hadrian's reign in Egypt — rendered as L ΚΑ in the Alexandrian regnal dating system — falls squarely within the period following his extended tour of the eastern provinces, which included his famous visit to Egypt in 130 AD. That trip ended in personal tragedy with the drowning of Antinous in the Nile, an event that prompted a city-founding and an empire-wide cult.
