At the lower left, Cerberus, the three-headed guardian of the underworld, is seated beside the throne, reinforcing Sarapis's chthonic and Olympian syncretic nature. The regnal year date L ΙΗ (Year 18) appears in the left field, a standard Alexandrian dating convention. The composition reflects the prominent role of Sarapis as the chief dynastic deity of Ptolemaic and Roman Egypt. |
