Reverse description The cult statue of Artemis Leukophryene is depicted facing, shown in the canonical xoanon-like frontal posture characteristic of this Magnesian type, with two small winged Nikai flanking and crowning her. To one side stands Tyche facing left, holding a ship's rudder in her right hand and a cornucopia in her left, symbolizing the fortune and prosperity of the city of Magnesia ad Maeandrum. The reverse legend, distributed around the field, records the name of the presiding grammateus and the civic ethnic. The composition reflects the strong local religious identity of Magnesia, where the cult of Artemis Leukophryene was of paramount civic importance.
