Reverse description Heracles, the patron deity closely associated with Samos, depicted standing facing with head turned slightly to the right. The hero is draped in the Nemean lion skin and holds a club in one hand and a bow in the other. The figure occupies the full height of the field, rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Ionian civic coinage. The ethnic legend of the Samians appears in the field, within a beaded border.
