She faces Asclepius, god of medicine, who stands frontally with his head turned to the left, leaning on his characteristic serpent-entwined staff (caduceus). The two deities are depicted in a confronted composition typical of the Odessos civic coinage, reflecting the city's strong cultic association with these healing divinities. The reverse legend in Greek identifies the issuing city. |
