Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, portrayed from behind in the three-quarter rear view characteristic of later Severan provincial coinage. The imperial effigy displays the customary military dress, with paludamentum visible at the shoulder. The surrounding Greek legend runs along the periphery of the flan, identifying the emperor by his official titulature. The flan is broad and irregularly shaped, typical of provincial bronze issues struck at Cidrama in Caria.
