Obverse description Draped bust of the personified Roman Senate (ϹΥΝΚΛΗΤΟϹ) facing right, the head diademed and rendered in the conventional portrait style of a mature male figure. The circular Greek legend ΙΕΡΑ ϹΥΝΚΛΗΤΟϹ (Sacred Senate) runs around the periphery of the flan. The bust is depicted with characteristic drapery folds across the shoulder, consistent with the provincial coinage tradition of Caria under the Severan dynasty.
