| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, portrayed three-quarter from the rear, with the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder and the segmented cuirass rendered in detail. The imperial effigy is executed in the provincial style characteristic of the Sardian mint, with bold, slightly coarse modelling. A Greek legend runs around the periphery of the flan, naming the emperor by his adopted Antonine titulature. |
