Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, seen from the rear, with finely rendered paludamentum and muscled cuirass visible at the shoulder. The imperial effigy is portrayed in the characteristic provincial style of the Ephesian mint, with carefully detailed hair beneath the laurel wreath. A beaded border frames the field, encircled by the Greek imperial titulature legend. The portrait occupies the majority of the obverse field, conveying the emperor's youthful features in high relief consistent with early third-century provincial die-cutting.
