| Obverse description | Laureate bust of Commodus, with short beard, draped in paludamentum and cuirass, facing right and seen from the rear, with the folds of the military cloak visible. The obverse legend is inscribed in Greek around the bust, identifying the emperor as Marcus Aurelius Commodus Caesar. The lettering features alpha characters with curved crossbars, noted as tooled. The portrait style is consistent with provincial bronze coinage of the early reign of Commodus, executed with a high-relief provincial die. |
