| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and lightly bearded bust of Emperor Commodus facing right, the laurel wreath rendered with fine detail atop curling hair. The imperial effigy is depicted with youthful features consistent with the early years of his reign. The encircling Greek legend runs along the periphery of the flan, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. The portrait exhibits the characteristic provincial die-cutting style of Bithynian civic coinage, with a bold, high-relief bust truncation at the shoulder. |

| Reverse description | Turreted Tyche, the personification of the city of Nicomedia, seated facing left upon a throne, rendered in flowing drapery. She holds in her extended hands a small tetrastyle or octastyle temple model, symbolising Nicomedia's proud status as a twice-neokoros city — an honour granted for maintaining an imperial cult temple. The reverse legend encircling the design proclaims the civic title of Nicomedia. The composition reflects the prestige iconography typical of Bithynian provincial bronze coinage of the Antonine period. |
