Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Caracalla facing right, rendered in the robust provincial style characteristic of the Ionian mint at Colophon. The emperor's effigy displays the youthful features associated with his early co-regency period. The encircling Greek legend runs along the periphery of the flan. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, typical of provincial bronze coinage of Asia Minor in the Severan period.
