| Obverse description | Bare-headed and laureate bust of Emperor Antoninus Pius facing right, with short beard rendered in the characteristic style of his portraiture. The emperor's effigy is depicted with a slightly draped shoulder, consistent with Roman provincial coin iconography of the mid-2nd century AD. The encircling Greek legend runs around the obverse field. The portrait is executed in the provincial style typical of the Ephesian mint, with bold relief modelling of the facial features. |
