| Obverse description | Laureate head of Antoninus Pius facing right, depicted with characteristic beard and draped shoulders. The portrait is rendered in the naturalistic Roman imperial style, with the laurel wreath clearly delineated about the head. The encircling Greek legend runs along the coin's periphery, identifying the emperor with his full titulature. The flan is broad and irregular, as is typical of Alexandrian provincial bronze coinage of this period. |

| Reverse description | Lycurgus, the mythological Thracian king, advancing to the left with his head turned to the right, both arms raised as he strikes down a grapevine with an axe or labrys. A second vine is visible behind the figure, alluding to the myth in which Lycurgus, maddened by Dionysus, attacked the god's sacred vines. Additional element(s) appear at the feet of the figure. The regnal year date L Η (Year 8) is inscribed in the field. |
