| Obverse description | Laureate, cuirassed and paludamentum-draped bust of Antoninus Pius facing right, depicted from the rear in the characteristic Alexandrian three-quarter back view. The emperor's features are rendered in the provincial style typical of the Alexandrian mint, with the laureate wreath clearly delineated atop the head. The Greek legend encircles the bust, giving the emperor's full titulature. The flan is irregular in shape, as is common for large bronze issues of Roman Egypt. |
