| Reverse description | Zeus Laodiceus standing left, draped and wearing a polos or stephane, holding a long sceptre in his right hand and extending his left hand to present a small eagle. The figure is rendered in the characteristic cult-statue type associated with Laodicea ad Lycum, conveying the city's patron deity in a hieratic, frontal stance. The multi-part dedicatory legend surrounding the field records the name and office of the local archiereus (high priest) Attalos, son of Publius Claudius, who dedicated the coin issue to the citizens of Laodicea. |
