| Reverse description | Central tetrastyle temple enclosing a frontal cult statue of Artemis of Ephesus (Artemis Ephesia) standing, facing, wearing the kalathos (cylindrical crown) and with the characteristic supports at her sides. Flanking this central temple are two smaller temples shown in three-quarter perspective, each with two frontal columns and enclosing an imperial statue, representing Ephesus' two neocorate temples dedicated to Domitian and Hadrian respectively. The composition emphasises Ephesus' proud status as twice neocoros (ΔΙϹ ΝΕΩΚΟΡΩΝ), and the legend ΕΦΕϹΙΩΝ ΔΙϹ ΝΕΩΚΟΡΩΝ appears around the reverse field. |
