The emperor's portrait is rendered with characteristic second-century realism, the laureate wreath clearly delineated above the brow. The obverse legend encircles the bust in Greek script, reading Τ ΑΙΛ ΚΑΙϹΑΡ ΑΝΤΩΝΕΙΝΟϹ, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. The field is plain, with the bust occupying the central flan. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | The cult statue of Artemis Ephesia (Artemis of Ephesus) standing frontally at centre, depicted in the canonical hieratic manner with kalathos headdress, arms extended and supported by lateral struts, and the characteristic multi-breasted torso draped in a tight ceremonial garment with animal relief decoration. The goddess is flanked on either side by a stag, sacred animals associated with her cult, standing at her feet. The reverse legend ΚΙΛΒΙΑΝΩΝ ΤΩΝ ΠΕΡΙ ΝΕΙΚΑΙΑΝ curves around the periphery, identifying the issuing community of the Cilbianoi around Nicaea in Lydia. |
