Obverse description Bare, diademed head of the Demos of Laodicea, bearded, facing right, with traces of drapery visible at the truncation. The portrait is rendered in the provincial Greek idiom characteristic of Phrygian civic coinage of the Antonine period. The encircling Greek legend reads ΔΗΜΟϹ ΛΑΟΔΙΚΕΩΝ, identifying the personification of the citizen body of Laodicea ad Lycum.
