Æ34 - Trajan ΜΕΝΕΛΑΕΙΤΗϹ, L ΙΕ

The ΜΕΝΕΛΑΕΙΤΗϹ nome coinage represents one of the more administratively specific Roman provincial issues — each piece tied not to Alexandria itself but to one of Egypt's administrative districts, in this case the Menelites nome in the Delta region, named for Menelaus, brother of Agamemnon. These nome bronzes were struck under Domitian and continued through Trajan's reign, functioning as a deliberate Roman mapping of Egyptian geography onto coinage. L ΙΕ places this piece in regnal year 15, equivalent to 111/112 AD.

The series was not continued past Trajan.
