Obverse description Laureate half-length bust of the emperor Trajan facing right, clad in cuirass and aegis, the latter rendered with scaled texture and gorgoneion detail characteristic of Alexandrian provincial coinage. The effigy is boldly modelled in high relief, with finely engraved laurel wreath and layered drapery visible at the shoulder. The Greek legend is arranged in the field surrounding the bust, bordered by a beaded inner circle. The portrait conveys the authoritative martial iconography standard to Trajanic issues from the Alexandria mint.
