| 裏面の説明 | Zeus enthroned to the left, his upper body bare, lower body draped, holding a long sceptre in his left hand and a thunderbolt raised in his right. To the left of the throne stands an eagle facing right, a common companion attribute of Zeus in Alexandrian iconography. The date regnal legend L ΙΘ (Year 19) appears to the left of the figure in the field. A rope border encircles the design. The composition follows the standard Alexandrian Zeus type employed throughout the Trajanic series. |

Year 19 of Trajan's reign coincided with his Parthian campaign, the most ambitious Roman eastern offensive since Mark Antony — and the last time Rome would hold Mesopotamia. Alexandria's mint was producing coinage at volume during this period, partly to support the logistical demands of a war economy stretching from Egypt to the Tigris. Trajan died in 117 before consolidating those gains, and his successor Hadrian immediately abandoned the conquered territories.
