Year 15 of Trajan's reign corresponds to a period of aggressive Roman infrastructure investment in Egypt, including expansion of the canal linking the Nile to the Red Sea — a project Trajan pushed to near-completion, reportedly along the route of an earlier Ptolemaic channel.
