Reverse description The god Nilus reclines to the left atop a crocodile, his primary emblem as deity of the Nile River. In his right hand he holds a long reed, while his left arm cradles a cornucopia overflowing with the bounty of Egypt. The regnal date ΙϚ appears in the upper field, while lotus flowers, symbols of the Nile's fertility, are depicted in the lower field. The composition is rendered in the Hellenistic artistic tradition characteristic of Alexandrian civic coinage, celebrating Egypt's agricultural abundance under Roman imperial rule.
