背面描述 Isis Thermouthis depicted as an anguipede figure — her lower body terminating in serpentine coils — standing in a frontal pose at the centre of the flan. The goddess raises both arms outward, holding a flaming torch in each hand, a composition closely associated with her chthonic and protective aspects in Alexandrian religious iconography. The surface is heavily worn and patinated in green, with the regnal year legend placed in the field. The flan exhibits the same irregular chipping as the obverse, consistent with a heavily circulated provincial issue.

附加信息

Year 16 of Trajan's reign in Egypt corresponds to 112–113 AD, a period when Alexandria's mint was producing large bronze denominations at considerable volume to serve the closed currency system Rome maintained over Egypt. The province operated its own monetized economy deliberately isolated from the rest of the empire — coins from elsewhere were exchanged at the border and melted, keeping Egyptian bronze circulating only within Egypt itself.

The reference III#4681.4 suggests a Dattari-Savio attribution, the standard corpus for Alexandrian bronzes. Specimens of this size frequently show uneven fabric from the casting of planchets rather than rolling, which is endemic to the Alexandrian series rather than indicative of any individual coin's quality.
