| 正面描述 | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed half-length bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, rendered in the Alexandrian provincial style with detailed treatment of the paludamentum and segmented cuirass. The imperial effigy is depicted with characteristic short curly hair beneath the laurel wreath. The encircling Greek legend occupies the field around the bust, identifying the emperor with his principal honorific titles. The flan shows the typical broad, slightly irregular fabric characteristic of Alexandrian bronze coinage of the early second century AD. |

Year 16 of Trajan's reign coincided with his Parthian campaign preparations and a period of aggressive provincial administration across the eastern empire. Alexandrian bronze of this size served the densely populated Nile delta economy, where Roman-era Egypt functioned as a closed monetary system — imperial coinage from elsewhere did not circulate freely, and local bronzes rarely escaped the province. The regnal year dating system used by the Alexandrian mint is among the most precise chronological tools available to Roman provincial numismatists.
