Obverse description Radiate and cuirassed bust of Emperor Trajan Decius facing right, depicted three-quarter front, with a gorgoneion (Gorgon's head apotropaic device) prominently displayed on the breastplate of the cuirass. The portrait conveys the imperial authority typical of mid-third century provincial coinage, with the radiate crown signifying divine solar association. The legend encircles the bust, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. The engraving reflects the accomplished die-cutting tradition of the Ionian provincial workshops.
