| Obverse description | Bare head of Tiberius facing left, rendered in a sturdy provincial style with strong, simplified facial features. The portrait is unadorned and unlaureled, presented in high relief against a flat field. A circular Latin legend surrounds the effigy, reading TI CAE DIVI AVG F AVG IMP VII, proclaiming his titles and seventh imperatorial acclamation. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, characteristic of the African provincial mint at Thapsus. The overall style reflects the conventions of Julio-Claudian provincial portraiture. |
