Reverse description The river god Makestos personified as a reclining male figure, turned to the left, his semi-nude body supported on a large overturned water urn from which water flows. He holds a reed stalk in one hand, a conventional attribute of river deities in Greco-Roman provincial coinage. A stylized plant or branch is visible to the left in the field. The encircling Greek legend names the local strategos Andron and the civic ethnic of the Attaeans.
