Reverse description A war galley (trireme or bireme) with six oarsmen depicted in profile, sailing to the left, the oars visible beneath the hull in a regular arrangement. At the stern, two military signa (standards) are prominently displayed, referencing Nicomedia's status as an imperial cult center. The Greek legend is arranged in two registers above and below the central type, referencing the city's twice-granted neocorate honor. The composition occupies the full field in the bold, flat style characteristic of large Bithynian provincial bronzes.
