Reverse description Heracles standing nude to the right, his right hand resting on his hip in a contrapposto pose, while his extended left arm, supported by his club set upon a rock, cradles the infant Dionysus. The scene is rendered in a dynamic compositional style characteristic of provincial Bithynian bronzes, evoking the mythological association between Heracles and Dionysus. The reverse legend encircles the design field, proclaiming the twice-neocorate status of Nicomedia. The exergue is plain.
