Germe was a small Mysian city of modest political weight, but its bronze coinage under Septimius Severus reflects the competitive civic pride that drove provincial mints across western Anatolia to seek imperial favor following the civil wars of 193 AD. The magistrate name Glycon recorded in the legend — ΕΠΙ ϹΤΡ ΓΛΥΚΩΝΟϹ — anchors this piece to a specific strategos, one of the rotating local officials whose tenures help numismatists sequence the city's output across Severus's reign.
