| Beschrijving keerzijde | Athena standing left in a statuesque pose, her weight resting upon a long spear held in her left hand, against which leans a large round shield; in her extended right hand she holds a Nike figurine. At the lower left of the field, a coiled serpent rises from the ground, an attribute emblematic of Athena's chthonic protective role. The composition reflects the standard provincial iconography for Athena as city-goddess, executed in the robust, somewhat provincial die-cutting style typical of Phrygian civic coinage under Philip I. The reverse legend encircles the design, identifying the issuing city and the presiding magistrate. |
