Hadrianotherae, a minor Mysian city founded by Hadrian following a celebrated boar hunt in the region, was granted the right to strike bronze coinage under the Roman imperial system. The magistrate name preserved in the legend — Aurelius Sokrates — is otherwise poorly attested, and this issue is among the few physical records of his archonship. The city's coins under Philip I are notably scarce, almost certainly reflecting the disruptions of his brief and turbulent reign rather than any local administrative lapse.
