| Reverse description | Turreted Tyche, the city goddess of Cyzicus, stands facing with head turned to the left, holding a small uncertain object in one hand and a long sceptre or staff in the other. To her left, a reclining female figure, possibly a Nymph, faces right with her arm raised to her head. To her right, a reclining river-god faces left, leaning upon an overturned water-urn from which water flows, a standard personification of the local river. The composition is a typical three-figure reverse type for the neokorate civic coinage of Cyzicus. The reverse legend, rendered in Greek with the distinctive epsilon-like Ζ, proclaims the city's pride as a holder of the neokorate honour. |
