| Reverse description | Heracles, nude, seated to the left upon a rocky outcrop, his muscular figure rendered in the Hellenistic tradition. He holds a club in his right hand and rests his left arm upon the rock beside him. The reverse legend, partially encircling the field, includes a notable retrograde Ζ (reversed zeta) in the ethnic inscription, a die engraver's idiosyncrasy documented on this emission. The composition reflects the strong Heraclean civic iconography favoured by the mint of Cyzicus. |
