| Obverse description | Confronted laureate busts of Marcus Aurelius (left) and Lucius Verus (right), both draped in cuirass and paludamentum; Marcus Aurelius is distinguished by his characteristically long beard with flowing curls, while Lucius Verus faces him on the right. The two imperial effigies are rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Ionian civic coinage of the joint reign. The obverse legend encircles the paired busts, naming both co-emperors. |
