| Reverse description | Homonoia type depicting two cult statues in facing juxtaposition: to the left, the cult statue of Kore of Sardis standing facing, wearing a tall modius-like crown surmounted by a crescent; to the right, the cult statue of Artemis of Ephesus standing facing, wearing a kalathos and adorned with her characteristic supports and multiple breasts. Between the two figures, a stag is shown. The reverse legend, reading ΕΦΕϹΙΩΝ ΚΑΙ ϹΑΡΔΙΑΝΩΝ ΟΜΟΝΟΙΑ, celebrates the concordia (homonoia) between the cities of Ephesus and Sardis, with all letters except ΕΦΕϹΙΩΝ struck in retrograde, a notable and rare epigraphic feature of this issue. |
