| Descrizione del rovescio | Heracles standing right, nude and powerful, brandishing his club overhead with his right hand while grasping by the hair Hippolyte, Queen of the Amazons, who stands to the left in a posture of submission. The girdle (belt) of Hippolyte, the object of Heracles' ninth labour, lies at her feet. The composition references the mythological cycle of the Labours of Heracles, a popular subject in Bithynian civic coinage. The reverse legend in Greek names the issuing city and carries the numeral Ι (10) as a series or denomination marker. |
